So, the cons have begun to surface for the Switch. We are looking at the following:
Paid online services, no more free online games The only incentive for paying for online is ONE free SNES/NES game a month (which Nintendo will take back after the month is done) Focusing on motion control games STILL, even though the GIMMICK IS DEAD (See 1,2, Switch and whatever the hell that spring punching game is)
For me at least, I know it won't be a huge deal until I get Splatoon 2 and begrudgingly pay for online then. I don't much care for most virtual console titles anyway, as I own or have owned most classic titles I want to play. I'm hoping that there won't be any more crap like this coming down the pipeline any time soon though a healthy skepticism never hurt anyone.

I'll be watching this for sure. Fire Emblem Warriors alone will make it worth my time.
Pie in the sky hopes:
1. Remakes/VC. I'd love a VC translation of Geneology, for example. An HD remake of Tellius would be amazing. 2. Fates on Switch. There were some rumors based on a website listing, but they petered out pretty quickly. It may have been an error. I probably wouldn't buy it myself since I have the 3DS version, but a switch port could keep the series in the public conciousness. 3. New traditional Fire Emblem game announcement. 4. A reason to believe the mobile game won't suck.

So what are we all planning to get? This my pre-order list so far: 1. Nintendo Switch 2. Zelda, peasant edition 3. This case: www.gamestop.com/accessories/nintendo-switch-starter-kit-zelda-sheikah-eye-edition/140258It seems to be the most cost-effective case I've seen. Rigid, storage for 12 games, screen protector, earbuds so I don't forget, and completely superfluous joycon cases that I won't use. 4. A Pro Controller. I'm a little torn on whether I really need it, but I can always return the thing after I spend more time with the Joy Con control schemes. I've read some reports about it being more ergonomic, and there's some appeal to having a traditional controller for TV mode and leaving the Joy Cons connected to my switch while it's docked, so I can just grab the thing and go.

As of now, I'm in for:
The Grey Nintendo Switch - considered getting the Neon one for the hell of it, but decided against it. The Middle Tier version of Breath of the Wild - I sorta wanted the Master Edition, but realized that I didn't need a statue to take up more room and went for this one. The case probably isn't as good as the one you can get separately, but I'm a sucker for including any sort of soundtrack and fancy map in games. The Charging Cradle - didn't realize the basic one that comes with the console can't charge as you play, though I might just ditch this and get the outright pro controller. The price is just rubbing me the wrong way, but it'll surely be wroth it in the end. Everyone says the joycons stuck to the cradle is comfortable though.
I do love me some Bomberman, but my vacation is at the end of March and this is all going to cost me enough. Still, I intend to take the Switch with me as sort of a test even though I won't be playing it much if at all, and Zelda really isn't the sort of game I'd play on the go.

Suppose I'll throw in my two cents as well:
1) Nintendo Switch with grey Joy-Cons 2) Switch Starter Kit - not the stylized one like SecretIdentiT showcased because I'm an uncultured swine (and also already have the regular kit on pre-order along with the console). 3) Plebian-tier Breath of the Wild - more interested in the game itself rather than the real-life collectibles. 4) Super Bomberman R - the first Bomberman game I'll actually own, and after having had the chance to try the Japanese Super Bomberman 5 with five players, I have had a several years-old void in my gamer heart that needed this to fill it.
Future purchases are going to be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Odyssey.

I ended up pre-ordering Mario Kart. I wasn't sure I really needed a remake, but my son is really interested in MK8 on Wii U, and the Wii U is going to be moved down the basement with the old video game archives. I figure the joy cons will be great for his tiny hands to learn how to use a controller, and his training shall begin.
I also have every intention of playing Splatoon 2. The first game was such a great surprise that I look forward to more of it.

I'm flying home from GDC the day it comes out. My biggest fear is that I'll be stuck between two game devs playing Zelda with their fancy new portable switches.
I'll have to bring ear plugs and a bag to put over my head, just to be safe.

Man, it's Friday - launch day has just totally snuck up on me, even without being busy with other stuff.
Getting a little paranoid hearing how a few people are getting their Best Buy orders cancelled, though I got mine in literally when they put them up on the website that night, so I think I'm safe? I hope.

As I understand it, the problem comes from banks cockblocking big purchases from Best Buy, so the preorder fails when Best Buy tries to authorize. One way to be extra safe is to call your bank and let them know a big order is coming through. Unless you're like me where my bank should be calling me if I'm suddenly NOT blowing money at Best Buy.

Sadly mine won't arrive until Saturday, which is lame since I got it through Target AND had to pay for shipping like a savage. Nintendo, why do you do this to us.

I ordered my Switch for in-store pickup at Best Buy and the status is stuck on processing. I'm feeling pretty secure, though, since they already took my money.
I also have one on order under my sister's banner (she was having trouble with their website, so I tried). She opted not to pay the extra $15 for release day, and I think that one is also safe. They took the money and sent me an e-mail last week with an estimated arrival of the 6th.

I had an in-store pre-order done at the local EBGames pretty quickly after they opened them up, so I think I'm alright for launch day. My biggest concern is that there's going to be a long line-up waiting for the store to open; I didn't think this would happen at a mall, but the rush for Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon taught me otherwise. I'll have to be there before the doors open in the morning.

Hmm, makes sense, I made a big purchase last year and I did have to call my bank to get it cleared. Though when I pre-ordered the Switch, they took my money right then and there, but then credited it back later in the week so my order is currently on awaiting authorization, so I may need to call.
