These don't get talked about all that much like Triple A games do, so let's have a thread for it! What have you played recently? What's your recommendations?
I'm in the middle of Chronicles of Teddy, which is as close to a Zelda 2 sequel as anything else I've played. I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

I am listening to the Shovel Knight soundtrack right now, if that counts Hmm. Now that I think about it, I haven't played many indie games since Undertale (which was truly amazing). I feel like they've been in a bit of a slump - though that may just be because I haven't been paying as much attention.

I don't play indies too often, but among the ones I have:
- Shelter 2. Really short, but really pretty. Also really stressful if you take it personally, which of course I did because cute cats. Though not so much after you get the hang of it.
- Alien Swarm. I think this qualified, since it was by a small team that was later endorsed by Valve. Was really fun multiplayer. Deceptively difficult. Haven't played it in a while, though.
- ARK: Survival Evolved. Shiny Minecraft with tamable dinosaurs. Enjoying it so far, but it's a shit ton of work if you play solo. Probably easier if you join a tribe online, which I might. Solo mode could stand a rebalance to make things a little easier / less grind-y. Very pretty for an indie game.
- Rust. Like Ark, but genuinely not as fun. Rougher around the edges and no dinosaurs. Easier to build, though, if only due to less resource demands. Still pretty unpolished.
- Does Mount and Blade still count as an indie game? Because I still play Warband from time to time, and it's fun -- if huge and time consuming. Looking forward to the next one.
Seems I collect the solitary ones that you can play alone. I guess I should start picking up more cooperative / party games.

I think the last new indie game I recall picking up was Undertale? Still haven't played it yet. Ikiosho keeps telling me to get 20XX so we can do some co-op together, so I'm sure I'll be getting around to that sooner or later.

Steve and I did some 20XX when we started streaming. It is a really solid game and excellent for co-op. You should definitely check it out.

A fair number of these are blind recommendations because I don't have a PC rig (yet) that I've bothered to get them with. I've played many of these briefly on a friend's computer.
DUSKERS: Duskers is about being the last survivor in the galaxy of an unknown disaster. You have to collect resources to survive and along the way find out what's happened. The catch? You don't go places yourself. You send drones to do your bidding, which you in turn control with an MS-DOS style command line. This is just such a unique premise I have to mention it, in part because said friend was excellent at commanding his drones about...and I was not.
Kerbal Space Program: For the undying SF fans like me, you get to run your own space program, where your astronauts--Kerbals--have merely two stats; bravery and stupidity. The humor of seeing your best Kerbals go up in a flameball never gets old.
Games I haven't played, but heard good things about and are thus on my Wishlist:
Chemlink (solid puzzle game on optimizing logic sequences.)
Uplink (a hacking game).

What's up everyone? It's been a while.
Like Turtlebro said, 20xx is my new fascination. It's the Megaman game we all deserve right now, plus (unfortunately glitchy) online multiplayer.
Vagante is another great one for some couch/online co-op. It's another rogue-like, with more dungeon-exploring and RPG elements. Absolutely worth checking out.
I'm shamelessly still not over Spelunky. I still do daily runs. What a masterpiece.

My indie discovery this year has been Hotline Miami. I played the first game around May and I'm currently working through the sequel, Wrong Number.
The gameplay is very fast, frantic and addicting, and it's very satisfying when you rack up a huge combo over several screens. The story is presented in a stylish, trippy and expressionistic way that becomes very immersive, while the music makes up a huge part of the immersion factor as well, setting the mood perfectly and pumping you up during the frenzied and gory missions. The sequel features multiple characters and play-styles, while the first game had a ton of animal masks that gave you different attributes.
Definitely recommended.

Chroma Squad is really, really fun. Steve and I did an episode on it of Gamehater and ended up both loving it. I've sunk a few hours into it so far and it's pretty stellar.
Here's our video of us playing it:

Hours already? Go to bed!
I do wish I didn't commit to streaming it. Now I have to sit through the rest of Owlboy...

I'm still waiting for Shantae: 1/2-Genie Hero to come out. I played through Pirate's Curse and adored it and want more of that.

Last Indie games I played were Oxenfree and Furi. Furi is Ok, but I loved playing Oxenfree. Strong narrative, genuinely scary at times but ultimately heartwarming.

Let's do this:
World of Goo: It was on the leading edge of the indie game scene. I played it on Wii. You take blobs of goo and build bridges and stuff. It's great.
20XX: Roguelike Mega Man X. Shut up and play it.
Axiom Verge: Sweet baby Metroid, it's an indie Metroidvania that stands up to Super Metroid and looks Samus Aran right in the visor. I loved every second of this game and beat it twice within the span of a month.
The Binding of Isaac: Did you ever wish Link was a naked baby delving into a basement filled with poo, monsters, poo monsters, and his murdered siblings because his mother thought God wanted her to sacrifice him? Then this disturbing Zelda I inspired roguelike dungeon crawl is for you.
Enter the Gungeon: Bullet hell roguelike. It's a little long for a roguelike, but very well crafted.
Guacamelee: A luchador-themed Roguelike
Rogue Legacy: One of the top games on this list. It's a Castlevania-inspired Roguelike. At the start of each run, you pick a character with a class, subweapon, and random trait that has some minor to mindscrew affect on the gameplay. Gold for each run is used to unlock new classes and permanently upgrade stats, so while you play with a new character in a new castle each life, there is still some cumulative progress.
Terraria: 2D Minecraft with a sense of adventure. So, so good.
Titan Souls: A really interesting, albeit really short game that's nothing but boss fights. You and the boss both have a mere 1 HP.
