A thread about the content we're thinking about producing!
My main thing:
Courier Six: Eastern Promises A Fallout 4 Survival Mode Run (Let's Play)
Rather than do a straight-up Let's Play, which can be pretty generic unless you have a really lively personality (ex: Markiplier), I'm going to put a little twist on it. Instead of watching my dumb face and listening to me chat while running around, I'm going to make it a narrative. So, halfway between a narrative series and a Let's Play. Survival mode works well with this, because there's more pressure on you when just wandering around (gotta make sure you've got enough food and water and bullets).
The footage will be of my actual unscripted gameplay, then through editing I'll put a narrative story behind it. Sort of like how we ran "The Young and the Breastless" Sims playthrough way back in the day.
The basic narrative is: The Courier, the main character from Fallout New Vegas, travels to the Commonwealth seeking a brand new adventure. It won't follow the main story of Fallout 4 at all. Just sidequests and random encounters. The Courier is probably one of the more popular Fallout main characters, so that should hopefully go over well.
I've got a "RobCo Terminal" emulator that simulates the computer terminals in the game, so I can add whatever text documents I want into it. Each episode will open with a journal entry; like it's being read off the Courier's Pip-Boy. It'll describe the character's inner thoughts, aspirations, and her reflections on what's been happening to her. I get pretty obsessed with fleshing out my characters in games like Elder Scrolls / Fallout / etc. So I've got a pretty solid character established -- one that hopefully won't clash to hard with other people's headcanons about their own "Courier." I'm gonna keep her mask/helmet on at all times so that her appearance won't clash with anyone's personal version of the Courier. The armor's pretty bulky enough to make their gender somewhat ambiguous, too.
The Courier will start out at a somewhat higher level and have some iconic weapons from New Vegas. Namely, the Ranger Sequoia revolver and a Colt 1911 that's been named "A Light Shining in Darkness" to correspond with the exotic handgun you pick up during the Honest Hearts DLC. The Courier will be wearing the iconic NCR Ranger armor, complete with the Divide symbol on it in reference to the Lonesome Road DLC. So, very in line with lore.
The background music tracks will fall in line with the New Vegas soundtrack -- old school country/western/cowboy ballads with a few other things mixed in every now and again.
I've done video editing before, so it won't be too much trouble -- I'm just relearning things in Blender. Because Blender's free and my older version of Premiere doesn't seem to want to install properly. I'm currently gathering footage for my first episode and title sequence. I think it'll look pretty nice once everything's done.
I'll probably film a whole season in one go and then periodically release them on a fixed schedule.

I really like the idea Lena, I'll be looking forward to its release.
The main show my friend and I are currently filming is a much more straightforward LP series, with a slight twist, albeit not a very unique one.
Main Show: Rivals Alliance
So it's a derivative of the buddy LP series, with two friends playing games together, each of fan of opposing game platforms. The twist, if you can call it one, is that we will be playing the other person's chosen games, some of which we may or not have played before, likely the latter.
The whole idea of the show is to play games outside of our preferred platforms/genres/etc, and to show a little comradery among gamers of different preferences. My friend has been a diehard Sony for years, whereas I have been a lifelong Nintendo fan. We want it to be a laid back and casual show, with the occasional light hearted prodding of one another, poking fun at or mimicking typical fanboyish claims and notions, namely to show how stupid it can be.
We've already recorded, and then re-recorded, our first couple of games, but we're holding off on uploading until we have a decent sized backlog of videos, that we have a nice buffer in case life happens.
We've been in the works of coming up with a number of side shows we would like to do in addition to the main one, but the only one I'm ready to share at the moment is Flash Fridays, which is supposed to be another laid back show, playing a different online flash game every Friday, typically from sites like Newgrounds.
I do have three other projects that I fully plan on doing, but am still ironing out the details on. I'll share more on those when they actually get out of the planning stages.

I have a bunch of old SNES games that might be fun to review. I have Lion King which I discovered about a year ago is really fucking difficult, wtf were they thinking?!
There's also the ridiculousness of playing Mass Effect multiplayer with Nevermind, Lena, some unlucky smuck, and myself. It worked for Team Four Star!

I love these ideas thusfar. Character-oriented is definitely the direction LPs have been leaning, but I haven't seen anyone try to push this towards it's full potential. At the same time, small group LPs are unusual at best, and the people watching tend to be reasonably unreactive (see Video Games Awesome). My point is these are both reasonably unused directions to take with a lot of potential. I have a bunch of ideas for small group shows. I expect only a few will actually coalesce into good shows because learning curves or things just not working for whatever reason. Bottom line is I want whoever is undecided about making content to have a few easy options to try things out without investing a ton of energy, time, or commitment. Tabletop RPG AudiocastI've mentioned I shelved most of my writing projects to make a tabletop RPG, designed, among other things, to handle audiocasts well. This is probably a good time to share some of the details. I have plans for a Parasite Eve inspired campaign and a Star Wars one. I also suspect I might be able to make one derived from LA Chron...if the forums ever come back. I really need to do some serious reading to do that. Fundamentally, the system is similar to Savage Worlds--a system known for being fast and easy to use--so expect to be able to learn it in 15-20 minutes and to not need a rulebook after that. It's also got a few other oddities. - There's no arithmetic involved in rolling dice; modifiers change which dice you roll, then the dice spit out discrete "yes/no" answers. I designed this for a group who loves alcohol.
- Characters can do certain actions at any time. This can lead to characters talking over each other, but the improvement on the player's enjoyment is worth it. Things like parrying or reloading are a resource-management minigame played off each other. This part does involve a trivial amount of arithmetic, but no dice.
- Items with personality. This part is hard to describe, but my group has been experimenting with RPG items which can grow or degrade over time. For example, armor which wears down when you take damage, or lamps which run out of lantern oil. We've experimented with this over the past few years, and we all think the last few iterations have been gold.
I'm talking to my group about recording our in-person sessions. A few are interested, but on the whole the reaction is tepid and will probably not happen. Besides, we're currently playing a Delta Green campaign which I'd hate to interrupt, and Santais' campaigns go on for a long, long, time. I think Morrowind lasted the better part of two years. A recording of an online session of interested members seems more reasonable for LA content.

There's a couple I have turning in my head, though the two I'm pretty sure I can pull off are mostly text articles I'll write.
The Sky Belongs to No Man, but This Story is Mine Alone.
No Man's Sky, naturally. Rather then a straight up LP,similar to Lena's FO idea, I'll play a bit of NMS, stopping to take screenshots of anything noteworthy/weird/funny as well as the occasional video clip, then write up a log style diary of the goings on of this dude travelling around the universe all by himself, with the screenshots and videos in their appropriate places. I'll put a combination of my own real life reactions to what I encounter with what I imagine a person in actual space running into this sort of stuff might think of. I mean, just being alone, scrounging for materials, struggling to deal with communicating with these alien races I have no knowledge of the language of, running into weird ancient monoliths, and the weird pull toward the center of the universe. Pretty basic, but it's light enough that I can swing it and not just straight text so it hopefully won't be too boring. Already got a couple chapters in the can, but I definitely want to get a bit further before I start releasing it. Works out pretty well since the way I enjoy the game is a couple hours once a week, so I should be able to keep it up before the game gets dry, and any future updates they do can be just more big crazy surprises.
DJ Watches ______ All the Way Through.
Similar to my suffering through the entirety of Fast & Furious last year, though of course greatly expanded into a somewhat more substantial form. They're not going to be as in depth as certain video series with this premise you see on-line, since they won't be recaps or anything, just me going through entire series and just writing up my thoughts on it from the bigger general plot to just little things that annoy/impress me. This won't be simply about, say, all 11 seasons of Frasier or anything like that, the one I'm doing now because I'm doing it anyway is rewatching ALL of Universal Century Gundam in as close to chronological order as possible, with the wrinkle that I'm sprinkling in all the little OVA's and newer series that I haven't seen yet in there somewhere. Like, I just finished watching the original series and I wrote that article up already for the most part, so that was definitely a rewatch and an exercise in comparing what I remember and what it actually is...but prior to that I watched the first three parts of the Gundam: The Origin OVA which makes that rewatch mean different things to the viewing. The write-up for Origin will sorta have to wait until the last part comes out this Winter, but I'll refer to it, at least. Honestly, I know most people don't care, but I won't lie, it's mostly an exercise for myself to just get my writing muscles back into shape since it's been way too long since I've really sat down and written anything. I'll start with Gundam, since after UC there are all those different AU's, and it'll take me awhile, but I can certainly switch to something new afterwards if it works out.
Other ideas.....as of now, I definitely intend to do a test stream tomorrow evening of me with the new Hitman mission, though I don't think my mic works right now, and it's sorta terrible. I don't know how entertaining it'll be for anyone to watch me silently try to murder people stealthily in goofy ways, but it's mostly to see if my streaming capability is any good. I....might try my hand at a solo NRR podcast about just whatever interesting game/anime/movie/tv news pops up and I feel like talking about, but we'll see on that one, and really, solo podcasts can be really dull for listeners.

Yeah, I understand podcasting solo is rough. Having another person to bounce ideas off of lets conversations add to content, and there's always another voice if you need to mute the mic to clear your throat or take a drink. You could also edit out your breath gaps, but that sounds like a little too much effort, at least to me.

Since we finally started recording for it this past Monday, I suppose I'll go ahead and share another one of my projects I've had in planning for awhile now. Extra Show: How To Retro
As opposed to being just another run of the mill LP, much like my other show, this one would be more of an informational video walkthrough of difficult retro titles. It would be similar to Cinemassacre's show Bootsy Beats, but without any live action segments and more, hopefully humorous, outtakes on what not to do at tricky parts. Another of my IRL friends, different from the one on the other show, is helping me with recording the games, since we're both avid retro gamers and collectors. After a game is completed, the most ideal level completions will be sown together in order to keep the viewers from watching us die a million times. Afterwards, I'll record commentary for the walkthrough instructions to overlay the gameplay footage. From there we'll sprinkle in some of the more humorous outtakes from the unused recording, since we'll have microphone running as we record, just for these bits. However, due to the greater amount of video editing involved, and the fact that many retro games can require several hours of continuous play to complete, as they may have no save or password system and can be extremely difficult, this series will likely take much longer to produce. Since we're just now getting started recording, and I still need to learn a lot more about video editing, we may not see this show launch until next year. I'll give more updates on this one as they come, but for now we're off to get our asses kicked.

I don't really have any ideas of my own just yet, but as a "jack of all trades, master of none" of sorts, I'm willing to offer my skills to assist others if needed. I can do 2D art (cartoons and some graphic design), low poly 3D modeling, video editing (Sony Vegas) and I also have a capture device and I could get raw footage from any game in my library (mostly Gamecube, Wii, Wii U games)

Honestly Ty, I know I would love to see more original art from you, if you still work on it. I always loved all of your old flower mouse cartoons on the old the site, they were all pretty great. I see you have a new character with you, maybe you could do little shorts with all of your characters? Whatever you decide to do, I know I would be excited to see it.

Thank you for having an interest! I have been been doing art still. Animations are a bit out of my league, but I recently made a Dress-Up flash of my character! You can see all of my art here on inkbunny: inkbunny.net/usergallery_process.php?user_id=166173

I like to have a section of fanfic/fanart (different sections), did we have something similar? I've been writing a lot recently (fanfic and original), even though other sites have these it will still give something anyone can do. Only the person doing the story can post on the topic though ... given that it will take time to post the story, unless we break it down to chapters; each chapter will be a different post/topic, so replies will only be after the conclusion and won't mess up the progression of the book/story (we can work out that if this is accepted). Then there could be different mods - each one that knows about the story being written (I don't have a wide variety when it comes to that, I kinda stick to what I like). So there is my $0.2
