Okay, so since my 360 died recently I had to go out and buy an Xbone, finally.. I'd been putting it off, but you just don't cut me off while I'm literally in the middle of a Fallout game. Anyway, I get to redeem a game code, and I'm not sure which one to pick. Leaning towards Rise of the Tomb Raider. I'm not really much into racing games, so I probably don't need to get that one. I never felt like I'd be interested in Gears of War because the name and cover art just seem like a theme I'm not interested in, so I haven't looked into it much. But then again, I wouldn't have thought I'd be into Fallout either, but I picked up Fallout 3 because I'd seen a friend playing it several years ago and was tickled by Vault Boy, and now you almost can't tear me away from it. Thought about getting the Rare Replay, but the only Rare games I ever played were the Donkey Kong ones - and they aren't included in that one and I don't really know anything about the games that are in that package. Have you guys played any of these, and which would you recommend? Edit: Ugh, wtf happened to my thread title? Fixed it... I think.

Rare Replay without a doubt. Much like you, I have no interest in realistic racers. I've beaten the original Gears of War, and while it is fun, it's nothing special reall unless you really like shooters. Admittedly I haven't played Rise of the Tomb Raider, but I really want to. I enjoyed the bit I played of the previous title, so I imagine it's pretty good.
Rare Replay contains 30 Rareware classics of many different genres. Want some classic collectathon platforming, Banjo Kazooie. Want to play some local split screen shooters, Perfect Dark. Want a hilariously inappropriate comedy gold, Conker's Bad Fur Day. Want a hard as hell retro game, Battletoads. It has just about anything you would want to play in one game.

Rare Replay for sure. A hige pile of games you never played is going to have a higher value than the others. The N64 games alone make it the best choice.

I'm not sure if you'd enjoy Rise of the Tomb Raider, but it's very pretty and probably more to your liking than the other two new titles.
The Rare Replay would be more your style, I think, but I always found it strange to buy vintage games on a brand new console. Especially when free ROMs are ridiculously easy to download and play on even outdated computers. The XBone controller can be hooked up to your computer via USB cord to serve as a gamepad.
It's kinda like buying an expensive hi-def sound system and using it to play 8-tracks. But that's just me.

Ended up going with the Rare Replay, even though part of me agrees with Lena about the ROM thing. But I don't really do ROMs these days except for a few I still have kicking around from the olden days of games that I can't get any other way. Part of me kinda likes to support them putting old games on virtual consoles and whatnot. I guess I see it more like playing records on a fancy new stereo... still kind of outdated but not as weird and clunky as 8-tracks. XD
(also, ouch at calling games from our childhood "vintage." ;_; )
