I passed my dissertation defense yesterday! So I am DONE with school, aside from bureaucratic nonsense, and I am a doctor of music theory! So I can't diagnose your rashes (sorry Kissy and Rova) but I can diagnose your ... music??

THE DOCTOR Congratulations. I'm sure you have many opinions on which composers are the most kickass, but let's go with popular Film/TV soundtrack composers. In your humble doctor opinion, who is the best and why? I was having this discussion the other night with someone else.

In your humble doctor opinion, who is the best and why? I was having this discussion the other night with someone else. hmmm, this is actually something I haven't thought a ton about, so I don't have an opinion on "best" I don't think. I often get annoyed at movie soundtracks if they distract me for some reason, but this is a problem with me, not the soundtracks, haha. But for that reason, the first person that immediately comes to mind is Philip Glass, because his scores are nicely unobtrusive for me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wkof3nPK--YAs far as composers who write melodies go (haha), I mostly really like Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings, but I can never forgive him for the boring music he wrote for Gandalf's death. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DtLl8F7QJ4Danny Elfman does a great job with that quirky stuff. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKGmoyuUvyUI also really like the Godfather, and a lot of those other older movie scores, which I feel are good about being a bit more reserved. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlJJJwl7Ess
