Guys, guys.....this game is turning out to be really, really good so far.
I'm not even remotely far enough to say anything other then initial thoughts, but damn, this game guys. I didn't hate XIII, and actually loved XII, but I think this might be the first Final Fantasy since IX that I just wanted to play endlessly as much as I could. Like, I want to get all my responsibilities done today so I can play as much as possible, and want to spend all my time with it. It's gorgeous, the game play and battles are super fun and intuitive, and I like the characters so far. For all the crap I talked of the four, I like the j-rock a-holes precise because they're coming across as more then just pretty faces for yaoi fans to pair off as they see fit. For once, I actually believe that these group of people are all best friends, mostly because there's also the believable tension that technically, Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto all serve Noctis as his bodyguards, yet they've all managed to become his friends as well. I'm certain this game isn't perfect, it's still a JRPG, so I'm sure as I get deeper into the game, the plot twists will get zany and weird, but so far, all the banter and dialogue has been been very good. It almost reminds me of Persona 4, in that this group of people could be a real group of people in real life.
If you were cautious about the game, I understand, and hey, maybe after a few more hours I'll come back into this thread cursing this game, but so far, so good. Oh, and don't worry about watching Kingsglaive and Brotherhood - they're great companion pieces, but you don't need to to play the game.
