So, I've been tinkering with the website again. I've put up our Livestream / Video Channel directory. gamehiker.com/legends/?page_id=14If any of you would like to start a channel, let me know and I'll put it up there. It doesn't necessarily have to be gaming related. It can be about music, cooking, whatever. I'll just group channels into categories once we get more on the list.

...About that. I still intend to make a channel exploring graphene infused plastics, but I'm probably no longer on track to launch by the first of the year. Needing to assemble a studio during Christmas season when guests will be over? Doesn't sound like something that's gonna happen. Beginning of February might be a more realistic goal, with significant rethinking.
And recording my D&D group is kinda a no-fly now. I could host a Discord RPG Campaign Night for LA members, probably starting around the first. I doubt there's both interest and availability in just LA's current members, but I guess it won't hurt to ask.
Tip which may or may not apply to others: dollar store costume stuff for Halloween is now on deep discount. I want to at least have the option for in-person acting, which means some make-up effects, some costumes, and some lighting. But I also didn't want to break the bank on effects which will likely go unused. Costumes and lighting I can use for other things are fine, but make-up is pretty specialized. Pennies on the dollar is the only way it makes sense.

I just bought my microphone tonight, finally, so I think my Hitman-ing might be a regular thing now. I'll probably do some Watch_Dogs 2 this weekend as well.
...but first let me do my promised written review. -cough- <.<

DOUBLE POST OF DOOM.
...I saw a Steam and XBL community, so I took the liberty of creating a Community on PSN as well. Just search for...well, Legends Alliance and request to be added and I'll let you in.
Erm, I'm open for suggetions or whatever if we're trying to have a unified theme though, so I left the logo and background blank for now.

I'll add it to the list. Do you have a brief channel description you want to include? It'll help people get a sense of what your regular plays are.

I'm still figuring that out to be honest. I'll probably just end up streaming whatever I happen to be playing at the time, so idk, I guess DJ's channel description fits mine as well. If I find a more clear direction for my channel down the line I'll let you know.

OK, so I'm going to date myself HARDCORE when it comes to this but can someone tell me what the allure of Streaming is? Is it the level of interactivity or the live sport of it all or is it something I'm missing?

I regularly watch a couple streamers with Adrienne. We even met them in person and made cameos in a special event stream.
I don't like big streams that have 100+ people in chat at a given time -- there are lot of dumbasses (especially with lady streamers) and it's hard to follow along. But I find smaller streams enjoyable. It's comfortable when there's a dozen or so regulars in there. After a while, it feels like hanging out with friends. Similar to the sensation to going over to someone's house to hang out and watch games. People (both the streamer and the people in chat) get excited to see you, ask how your day was, and then you all happily banter and converse.
So, yeah, it's the interactivity for me. It's kind of like how Tinychat nights used to be. Good for making friends if you find a fun channel.
People who are really into e-sports might watch live competitive tournaments. But that's only if it strikes your fancy. I find e-sports to be a little too frantic for my tastes.
Youtube, conversely, is less for "hanging out" and more for putting on a fixed-format show. Be it a vlog, a Let's Play, or a more elaborate series with a narrative.

Pretty much. For me personally, I always liked friends coming over or going over to friends and playing games together, even single player games. Yeah, the rest would sit there and watch, but I have a bad habit of commenting out loud when gaming, and having people around encouraged it a bit more and did make me - and the others - work a little harder to make those snarky jokes and comments be more entertaining. I haven't done that in a long while, naturally, and streaming can sorta fill that void - the last couple times a few friends of mine did tune in and mentioned to me later how it was like "the old days," and several times they caught themselves yelling at me as if I were playing in the room.
Otherwise, why not? It doesn't bother me, and in something like Hitman's Elusive Targets, I like there being proof of my success, the shakier and more harrowing the better, as well as my spectacular failures. I also like the idea of chat being there, though my PC is a little too far away for me to be able to see it and reply, but whatever.
