I'll skip to the punchline: 20XX is a magnificent Mega Man inspired roguelike.
I've put about 2 hours into this one, one of which was playing co-op with Masamune on Twitch. Single player and co-op are both awesome.
In 20XX, you are a super fighting robot who absolutely hates all other robots. Your goal is to run through 8 stages to murder the bosses, steal their powers, and use those power to murder more robots. It's a roguelike, so you have to do it all in one life while collecting various other power-ups, which range from item drop rate multipliers to damage boosts to mobility upgrades and other wacky effects. Meanwhile, the stages get tougher the deeper you go. Boss weaknesses are less relevant because when you pick a stage, you are limited to 3 random choices. In true roguelike fashion, levels are procedurally generated, so you can never get complacent.
The whole thing is fantastic and you need to shut up and buy it. On disclaimer is that this this an early access game. It's already the best fake Mega Man game we have, though.

I will agree with everything said here. Except I enjoyed it more than any of the Mega Man games I've played in the past.
Yes, I went there. Disclaimer, I only played a handful of Mega Man games and didn't like them entirely on the grounds of not being able to aim.

Ignoring everything outside the X series, I'd rank this below X and X2. Mega Man X lost its way pretty quickly, but didn't have a truly bad game until X6.
