Have at it!
This is for people who have finished the new season.
All spoilers exposed, since using a ton of spoiler tags gets annoying.
Warning!
Turn back now!
Here there be dragons!

SPOILERS GO
(I am not actually finished yet, but will be back soon, so this is for you who binge-watched like champions)

I binge-watched the whole thing last night because I make terrible life choices, so:
Thoughts both positive and critical:
* Nancy and Mike's parents are so unattentive it's ridiculous. * Why have we not learned to just listen to Joyce at this point? Joyce is always right.
* Not sure why Ginger-girl and her douche brother were added to the cast. I like bootleg Ginny Weasley, but she don't actually add anything of value to the story itself. And if their parents were there the whole time, why is douche brother perpetually taking care of Ginny instead of her mom??
* Steve and Douche-Bro surprisingly homoerotic shower scene. Douche-Bro digs him.
* I never thought Nancy and Steve had any chemistry, but Steve's a good guy so I hope he sticks around for future seasons.
* I like that Nancy's first instinct is any situation is some variation of "attack."
* To that end, I started calling her the Inquisitor, because she looks just like my main character from Dragon Age: Inquisition, right down to being smol and petite (I played an elf rogue). I like that they're still giving her the guns, too. When Hop handed her the rifle it reminded me of Furiosa and Max in Fury Road.
* Eleven's story was interesting, but it was *so disconnected* from the "main" story that it was jarring to jump to her journey after things start getting intense with Will. I feel they could have done something else with her or integrated the stories better.
* Though looking at it, Mike is probably in the story less because he was off filming the new It movie, and maybe Eleven had other projects too.
* Eleven choking out dude during her "Katara moment" gave me a vision of an alternate-universe Star Wars film where young Leia is raised by Vader and I was very happy with that.

For a second season I think it did a good job - acting was great across the board (except for Eight/Indian Girl's crew), and it was good to see character development outside of the kids, Eleven, etc. Hopper is the best foster dad.
I was also hoping they were going to do something cool with that intro of Eight causing the hallucination, but I guess it was just a setup for some weird revenge thing...? I saw a suggestion on Reddit saying Chapters 6 and 7 should have been reversed - that way it wouldn't have interfered with the cliffhanger of the Demodogs attacking the lab.
The guy who played Billy did really well, I hated his character so much.
Also I agree Lena, Rogue was fun to play in Inquisition.

Also very important. This was playing in my head during the final moments of Bob Newby, superhero:
I can never unsee Sean Astin as Sam.
Go be with Mr. Frodo, Sam. All is well.

Tris and I just finished this. She also bought me a really nice blu ray collection of the first Stranger Things series that looks just like a VHS tape. It's nuts.
Thoughts on Season 2:
On the whole, I really like it. I can't say that between the first and the second one is better than the other overall. I think in their base elements, each series does something somewhere better than the other, but overall I really dug both.
I love the Demodogs, and I love Steve. He's definitely my favorite character in the show. I hope if they go through with the third series that they not shit on him so much. The poor kid gets beaten up and bruised and broken-hearted...and the reason I like him is that despite all of that he still does the right thing in the end and he's still a noble person.
Great Guy Steve. He's like the Stranger Things version of Ash Williams, except he's not as much of a buffoon. Maybe next season when he is working in his dad's garage he can fashion himself some cool Demagorgon-slaying weapons.
