Oh, just because I liked it and was happy with it doesn't mean I don't have questions about how things are going to go from here.
The Resistance as it stands is literally just a dozen or so people in the galaxy, and while I get the whole small spark of hope thing, that seems a little worrying. With Carrie Fisher's untimely passing, we also visibly, if not actually, lose the leader of the entire thing. I actually figured for sure they would spare Luke in this movie to let him carry onto the next one and pass away there, but nope, here we are. I went into Force Awakens guessing that honestly everyone from the old movies would bite the dust before this was all said and done, and after Han died there I had guessed that Luke would go in this one and Leia in IX, but like I alluded to earlier I don't know if they'll actually kill Leia off now.
I actually liked how they just got rid of Snoke and consolidated it all down to Kylo Ren as the big bad of the trilogy, though it makes me question how Snoke didn't notice the lightsaber moving two inches away from him when he was otherwise powerful in the dark side. A lot of people talk about how thy ruined it by getting rid of the mystery and all, but I was so unimpressed by Snoke as a character anyway once they revealed that was a hologram in the last movie and he wasn't a giant guy that I kinda don't mind them dumping him. I get it though, i does feel like them sweeping something away a little too cleanly. Same with Rey's parents being nobodies, though I like that it doesn't matter where she came from, it's her own character and desire to do more and help others that makes her significant, not who her parents or lineage is.
The whole side trip that Finn and Rose took was completely pointless, I have a hard time believing that the First Order couldn't call another ship to light speed in in front of the slooooooowly retreating Cruiser and flank it, and that ending wwith the little kid was a terrible final shot for the movie. Ending it with them on the Falcon zooming away and cutting to the wipe would've been better.
Plus at least a dozen more things I question or find the logic of insane.
I ultimately like how, for better or worse, we are put in a position where we can't just easily predict what happens next besides "The Good Guys will probably win." Whether it's worth it or not, I can't really say until Episode IX, I guess. Sorry if that seems like a cop-out, but that's kinda what I settled on about it.
